Traditional farming techniques used in Bailey have allowed
the survival of wildlife and plants which are becoming rare elsewhere, including red squirrels. Otters inhabit the river, deer and badger inhabit the woodlands and the ancient hedgerows and meadows are a mass of wildflowers.
Each season in Bailey offers the opportunity to discover something of interest. During winter the hedgerows offer an oasis to life struggling against the elements, the first spring bulbs lead to an intense profusion of different plant species throughout the summer. Rich autumn colours mixed with fiery sunsets complete the year in this part of Britain’s unspoilt countryside.
Those wishing to explore our natural habitats can follow the Bailey nature trails or one of the farmland or woodland walks nearby. Discover an amazing array of different flora and fauna in Bailey, many of which have long since vanished from other areas of Britain. Plants such as orchids can often be found close to your holiday accommodation and the roadside verges are a refuge for our natural plant heritage. Follow one of the Wildflower Verge Trails to see for yourself.
Leaflets for all the trails are available from all accommodation providers in Bailey Hideaways.
